About Spotlight Piano School

Established in 2009, Spotlight Piano School has guided more than 600 private piano students from beginning through advanced levels. From its beginnings in Clear Lake, the school has grown steadily while maintaining a clear mission: to provide high-level, structured piano instruction rooted in strong technique, musicianship, and consistent guidance.

While Spotlight is known for developing accomplished and award-winning students, we welcome learners of all ages and experience levels. We do not select students based on talent — we develop it. Through thoughtful instruction and clear expectations, students build the skills and confidence needed for meaningful musical growth.

Our teachers bring advanced training in piano performance and music education and are committed to maintaining high professional standards in their teaching. Spotlight director Dr. Ying Zhang has been recognized as a Steinway Top Teacher and Kawai Medallion Educator in recognition of her work and her students’ achievements.

In addition to private lessons, Spotlight offers small-group piano classes and a range of musical enrichment opportunities. Depending on their program and level, students may participate in music theory, ear training, recitals, masterclasses, competitions, community performances, and other activities designed to deepen musicianship and build confidence. Our goal is not only musical excellence, but also the development of discipline, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.
