Since 2009, Spotlight Piano School has provided high-quality piano instruction for students from beginner through advanced levels. Our teachers bring advanced training in piano performance and music education, along with extensive experience teaching students of different ages and abilities.
We help students build strong technique, reading skills, musicianship, confidence, and expressive playing. Because every student learns differently, instruction is tailored to each student’s level, pace, strengths, and goals.
Spotlight students and alumni have earned recognition in local, national, and international competitions and performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall. They have also been featured by NPR and gone on to pursue piano and music studies at the college level.
Whether a student is learning for personal enjoyment or pursuing ambitious musical goals, we provide the guidance and encouragement needed to continue developing with confidence.
Assessment, Performance & Growth Opportunities
At Spotlight Piano School, learning extends beyond weekly lessons. Students have access to structured assessment, performance, and enrichment experiences designed to build confidence, deepen musicianship, and support meaningful long-term growth.
Through the Spotlight Student Assessment Program, students work toward clear musical goals and receive individualized feedback and recognition for their progress in performance, technique, theory, and musicianship.
Private students participate in two formal public recitals each year. Additional opportunities may include volunteer performances at senior living communities, masterclasses, theory programs, TMTA performance evaluations, the Texas State Theory Test, festivals, workshops, and competitions.
Our students have also been selected to perform in special events presented by leading piano organizations, including Steinway & Sons’ Child Prodigy Concert and Kawai’s Medallion Educator Concert Series.
Spotlight Sessions
Selected private students may be invited to participate in Spotlight Sessions—small-group coaching sessions taught periodically by Dr. Ying Zhang. These sessions offer additional guidance in musical development and performance preparation beyond regular weekly lessons.
Each session includes three to five students, allowing for individualized coaching as well as shared learning and inspiration.
