Since 2009, Spotlight Piano School has provided high-quality piano instruction for students from beginning through advanced levels. Our teachers bring advanced training in piano performance and music education, with extensive experience guiding students at different ages and stages.
We focus on building solid technique, reading skills, and musicianship from the beginning, while helping students become confident and expressive players.
Our students have earned recognition in local, state, national, and international competitions and performance programs.
Every student learns differently, so instruction is adjusted to fit the student’s level, pace, strengths, and goals.
Beyond weekly lessons, students may take part in recitals, community performances, masterclasses, theory programs, festivals, competitions, and other enrichment opportunities depending on their program and readiness.
Students enrolled in private lessons at Spotlight participate in two formal public recitals each year, providing meaningful performance experience in a supportive and professional setting.
Private students may also have opportunities throughout the year to participate in community outreach performances, theory programs, masterclasses, festivals, and competitions according to their interests, level, and readiness.
School-aged students may also participate in TMTA events, including the Texas State Theory Test and performance evaluations. For those seeking additional challenges, optional competitions, masterclasses, and workshops are available throughout the year.
Selected private students may be invited to participate in Spotlight Sessions—small-group coaching sessions periodically taught by Dr. Ying Zhang. These sessions provide additional guidance in musical development and performance preparation, offering students a deeper level of learning beyond regular weekly lessons.
Each session is held in a semi-private setting of 2–4 students, allowing for both individualized attention and shared learning.
